About the Artist
Marcus Manuel was born in Mountain Home, Idaho to a Peruvian mother and Mining Engineer father, Larry and Flor (in 1967). According to his artist Grandmother, Ruth "Marcus was born painting. When he was nine, Boise Blue Art Supply gave Marcus a one-man art show. At ten he was named "Artist of the Month" in Mountain Home.
Before graduating from High School, he had won a national poster contest, had a book of illustrations published, and had won a scholarship to the Columbia College of Art and Design. While a junior there Marcus was selected by Walt Disney Feature Animation to participate in their very first internship program. Only 12 students were chosen from over 80 art schools nationally. Since receiving a BFA Degree in illustration, he has had over 3,000 illustrations published nationally and internationally for album covers, books, and magazines. Some of Marcus' illustrations include the book series:"Great Stories For Kids, Uncle Arthur's Bible Stories (revised edition), Uncle Arthur's Bedtime Stories, 14 "PowerPoint" books (800 illustrations) and many others. Marcus' paintings have been made into puzzles, board games, labels, signs and t-shirts. Some of his clients include: NBC, 20th Century Fox, Popular Mechanics, Sunday Digest, and the following magazines: Signs of the Time, Listen, Guide, Vibrant Life, Women of Spirit and many others.
Today Marcus and his wife Debie run their business out of the front of a converted airplane hangar. Daughters C.J. and baby Emma help out. Their first limited edition print "Welcome Home" has sold out, and many more paintings are being produced. They also run Phantom 4 T-Shirts specializing in high quality design and print. Marcus continues to reside in Mountain Home and hopes to live out his life enjoying the magic of his small town.
